I would like to add one really cool and FREE website...
www.fitday.com
This website will figure out your personal calories and nutrient breakdown,
it has also activity references of calories per hour, and charting, it's
very nice. For a free site it's downright splendid! It has the ability to
set up a custom food, say you have something they do not have in a very
extensive base, yet you eat it regularly, you punch in the data off the
label and there you are. It's user friendly and I found I could set up
something to my personal liking in about 10 minutes. I will say the one
thing I did not like was the limitation on setting the overall activity
level on the initial set up - you could not set it for lean mass or your
percentage of bodyfat, for example, but for a free site it's pretty good...
and it does adjust the calorie burn based on your bodyweight at least for
the activities! (For me, something based on what a 120 lb female burns isn't
going to work...). I also double checked some of the settings it gave me in
my other desk references and it's pretty close!
They have a pay version you can invest in but I've found this free one and
calorie king to both be very useful. I regularly send my clients to both to
help them sort through their nutritional questions. It's surprising really
how many people struggle in keeping a good food diary or figuring out just
what exactly they eat, without a lot of frustration. This site is pretty
easy to use when you set it up so they tend to comply more with the food
diary.
