Susan,

personal trainers at gym are often uneducated persons , with dogmatic
views on strength and conditioning. I would not bother too much with
what he says , he is probably way less experimented and versed in SC
than your coach. I think you should **trust** your coach and go on his
hand. Completely ignore that PT , his advice is wrong. Most of the PTs
I know do not have anyway the knowledge to train a competitive
athlete, yet they sure like to talk a lot.

Please listen to the advice in Linda Schaefer's post, and please trust
your coach.
