[Supertraining] 400m runner transition to 800m itsmeyoungb Mon Apr 16 18:03:50 2007
Dear Supertraining Family,
I appreciate all the posters for reading this.
I am a 23 year old male who is a 400 hurdlers in a major university in
the United States yet I am thinking about moving to the 800 meters
next year for competition to be more competitive. In 2001 I ran 48.12
for 400meters my junior year of high school. I graduated from him high
the next year and moved on to the University system. Because of some
family issues I left school and did not run or train for track and
field until February of 2006. I had done recreational lifting and
taekwondo, yet my running had been limited to mileage. I enrolled at my
current college this past spring and I did not have the fall to
prepare for the upcoming track season, yet i did do specialized lifting
in anticipation of the colliegiate season. Since I started running
again,my fastest time has been 50.68 and i seem not to have the foot
speed of endurance at the end of my race to be a good 400m runner
which is what I need to run a good 400h. In fact it seems as though I
am running slow or really not improving each me.It not my coach or
training program because everyone else on my team is improving very
well. It is discouraging and it makes me wonder whether I should be
running period. So I have been thinking about the move to 800 meters
to help my specialty. I think its a good Idea, yet others tell me to
stick it out one more year to see if because they said it will take a
while for me to get back where I used to be.I do know what to do,but I
am trying to figure out in anticipation of beginning my preparation
for the new seasons a week after my collegiate season is done. So from
a scientific stand point and all of the factors about I just
describle, what do the blessed minded people in this group think? All
opinions are valued deeply as I respect everyones views.Thank You.
