If you want an explanation that anyone can understand and don't need a PHD in
biomechanics to understand go to Elite Fitness Systems (Dave Tate Site), type
in bench press and you will find about a million different articles on how to
set up, train, etc. All of the great Benchers also have articles on this but
I particularly like those by J.M. Blakely who also has a great assistance
exercise called a J.M. press that trains one to bench properly. You can find
video on this on Utube. Or of course you can try to figure out the more
technical stuff which is way over my head. Hey, I'm a power lifter and a cop,
we're pretty basic. By the way power lifters have not got the market cornered
on this. Sites like bodybuilding.com have a lot of great articles on bench
press execution. Also there is a world of difference between execution of a
shirted bench press and a RAW one. Powerlifting USA magazine is also a great
source of bench press information by the world's best bench pressers. That
give you some places to start.
