J:

I don't generally respond to persons who hide their identity. But since your
email suggests you're with UC Berkeley, I can only surmise the university's
standards have diminished in the nearly forty years since I was there.

People should ask honest questions in search of truthful answers. Educated
persons should also have come away from their university experience with a
sense of doing indepth research prior to coming to premature conclusions.
Laura's published the best part of a thousand pages regarding Matrix over half
a dozen or more books in the past 18 years. Cursory review of those texts would
indicate that Matrix is far more complex and rests on rather comprehensive
research and experimentation than indicated by a short introductory text on a
commercial website. Getting all panicked over such a short text on a website
including all of his titles over the years just doesn't seem to meet the test
of competence - unless we're to succumb to the standards of irresponsible
journalism!
