Yeah, if you don't need to fire up udev twice, that will obviously save 
you some time, so the initrd is really only useful if you need the 
modules to load root (or some other crazy things in early boot).

Nice job cleaning them up. I had been meaning to do that but hadn't 
gotten around to it yet, thanks.
