Re: Quicktime Video files PRYDE Andrew Sat Mar 03 03:00:45 2012

Hi Susan,

Videospec (http://videospec.free.fr/english/ ) is a very handy tool for
providing info on media files, however, if the finder is reporting the files as
having zero bytes it sounds like you have another issue.

What is the file system of the original hard drive?, you might want to consider
using a recovery drive tool to pull the media files off of it.

Perhaps you are looking at a reference file and not the original file.
That happens sometimes as reference files are near 0 bytes.
Did you change a hard drive recently? or Copied the files to another computer?

There was no change in the hard disk that archived the files. I didn't use the
disk for 2 years.
All the source files should be at least 10GB+

Did you update QuickTime? Were the original files MPEG?
If so you may not be able to open them up in QuickTime 10 without first
converting them to a different format other than the original.
Try downloading and using VLC for your files. Do they open and play?

The originals are Quicktime H.264 with extension .mov
I haven't tried VLC yet, and will take that suggestion, and report back.
I also tried Quicktime 7.4.5(25)

I don't know why the original file is zero bytes.
