Alex,In re-reading your issue, I am struck by this un-installing Xsan thing.... Uh, I wonder did the config files get trashed on both servers (MDCs) ? That would be bad.
Apparently it is possible for diff MDCs to host diff volumes, as per some posters on Xsanity or here, saying it is so.

I am one of those users who knows enough to get going but not enough when he gets in trouble. We have xsan 1.4.1 running on two g5 xserves 10.48 and two 5.6 TB raids with three volumes. Everything was working fine until yesterday when we could not mount one of the volumes. We have been trying to research what to do but then this morning when we booted up the clients it would not mount any volumes on any client. We started poking around on the servers in xsan admin and noticed the 2nd server (backup MDC) was trying to act as a live contoller, it said it was hosting one of the volumes and the other server said it was hosting the other two volumes. I didn't even think that was possible. Anyway the servers that were hosting the volumes could see the data they were hosting but the other volumes they were not hosting they could see the luns but not the volumes. We tried per apples suggestion to try uninstalling and reinstalling the xsan software but now neither server sees the volumes and its coming up as untitled san but it sees our luns. Please tell me there is something we can do to fix this to get our data back. Thanks Alex Lumitone 925-522-1412 _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
