Dear All,

Apple has release 10.5.7 updater, there are three items related to the printing were listed in the release note:

(1) Resolves an issue that may cause certain third-party printers to print to the incorrect paper tray. (2) Non-admin user accounts can now be allowed to add and remove printers by enabling Parental Controls and selecting "Can administer printers".
(3) Includes other printing reliability and stability improvements.

I have the following questions regard to these improvements:

A. How to verify the item (1)?

There was an interaction between the number-up option and InputSlot that, for some printers, caused the InputSlot code to be ignored. In the print dialog, the number-up option is in the Layout pane and the InputSlot option is in the Paper Feed pane.

B. Is reasonable to allow non admin user to add/remove printers?

There are situations where non-admin users still need to be able to add and remove printers. The classic example is for a MacBook that is configured by corporate IT but is used in multiple locations. Without this change, the user would need to be a full admin to add and remove printers.

C. Is there more detail information regard to item (3)? What are the improvements

Mainly the changes from CUPS 1.3.10:

plus a couple crash fixes for Safari and Word.
