quicktime-java

Hello everyone,

I am trying to use QTJ as a general-format video player in a multimedia 
application. Right now, it works fine for videos playing off the local hard 
drive, but I'm running into issues with RTSP streams in Windows. While seeking, 
I am frequently getting "-5401 Bad State" errors. Looking through the JavaDocs 
and online, I haven't been able to find much regarding these errors or what 
causes them.

I wanted to know if anyone has developed a fairly robust implementation of an 
RTSP video streamer based on QTJ, and if so, had any pointers or links to 
helpful pages.

I also have heard about the rumor that QTJ will soon be deprecated. Knowing 
this, would it be wise to start using another API for video playback? Does 
anyone have any recommendations as to which multimedia API's are 
well-supported, perform reasonably well, and offer cross-platform support 
(Windows, Mac, Linux)?
